On April 2, 2024, the House Conservative Climate Caucus announced that Representative John Curtis (R-Utah) will be turning over leadership to Representative Mariannette Miller-Meeks (R-Iowa). Rep. Miller-Meeks will be the second chair of this 85-member caucus.
In response, President & CEO of the Evangelical Environmental Network The Rev. Dr. Jessica Moerman released the following statement:
“The Evangelical Environmental Network (EEN) thanks Representative Curtis for founding and leading the House Conservative Climate Caucus and welcomes Representative Miller-Meeks as the new chair. Addressing climate change is crucial for defending the health and lives of children around the nation, which is why pro-life evangelicals are eager to see climate leadership from all members of Congress. We are grateful to Rep. Curtis for starting this important caucus in 2021, which has quickly grown to one of the largest in Congress, and are delighted by the appointment of Rep. Miller-Meeks as Chair to continue advancing critical discussions about climate solutions. EEN has been working alongside farmers and evangelicals in Chair Miller-Meeks’s district, including hosting roundtable discussions on faith, agriculture, and climate. We know firsthand that evangelicals and farmers in Iowa play a vital role in advancing climate solutions, and we look forward to working with Chair Miller-Meeks and the Conservative Climate Caucus on solutions that uphold our sacred duties to steward God’s creation and defend the life and health of God’s children.”
