On Friday, October 4, EPA Deputy Administrator Janet McCabe will retire from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Deputy Administrator McCabe stated, “I am looking forward to a new chapter in my life, taking me back home to Indiana to be with my family and friends.”
In response, EEN President and CEO Rev. Dr. Jessica Moerman released the following statement:
“EEN is grateful to EPA Deputy Administrator Janet McCabe for her years of faithful and dedicated public service to defend the health of all God’s children, and we pray that this transition will begin a meaningful season full of joy and rest.
“For over a decade, EEN has worked closely with Deputy Administrator McCabe to advance critical pollution safeguards, first during her time as acting assistant administrator for EPA’s Office of Air and Radiation from 2013-2017, and again in her role as EPA Deputy Administrator since 2021. And while we have not always agreed on everything, we are thankful for Deputy Administrator McCabe’s tireless commitment to ensuring a safe, healthy environment for our families and communities.
“As a ministry focused on defending children’s health and caring for God’s creation, the entire EEN team is praying for Deputy Administrator McCabe as she heads into a new season, and we look forward to continuing to work with all people of good faith in our shared vision of a healthy, pollution-free world for our children.”
