Mourning Beth Bond

It is with heavy hearts that we announce and mourn the death of our EEN Moms Director, Elizabeth “Beth” Bond. Beth unexpectedly died at home on Wednesday July 29, 2020 of natural causes.

The EEN team is in shock and mourning over this tragic loss of a friend, colleague, and sister in faith. Beth will be remembered as a trailblazer— for addressing climate change as a critical aspect of Christian discipleship and for the adoption of renewable energy throughout the church and across the Southeast. Simply put, Beth grasped the need for creation care well before many within the Christian Church and led the way through her advocacy for renewable energy and for women’s and children’s health. She was a leader in civic engagement, fearlessly speaking out for clean energy and a pollution-free world for all of God’s children. Beth blessed us, and all she encountered, with her smile, southern wit, and wonderful faith.

The legacy of Beth’s leadership, heart for people, and pioneering spirit will continue to bless everyone at EEN and the Christian community at large for years to come. She had a contagious passion for meeting and connecting with people, especially women and mothers, and talking about God’s precious creation. During her tenure at EEN, Beth connected with thousands of evangelical moms. She worked diligently to reach new women, educate them about how creation care relates to their children’s health, and spur them into action and advocacy. She worked passionately and tirelessly to care for God’s creation and invite fellow Christians into this work.

Beth will also be remembered as our “Twitter and video guru.” Thousands of evangelicals have and will continue to witness her technical skills and passion through the worship services, webinars, Bible studies, and book clubs posted on EEN’s Facebook and YouTube channel.

In recent months, EEN began a book club to engage our community in new ways during the COVID-19 pandemic. Beth was its biggest champion and most vibrant, loving host. She loved organizing the meetings, looking for special speakers, and simply being part of each Friday event. Beth loved people and building relationships. She built the book club into a faithful community during the challenges of the pandemic.

Beth’s bright presence, selfless giving of her time and talents to others, deep love of Jesus, and fierce dedication to seeing Kingdom justice for all is a tremendous loss for EEN, the creation care community, and all who knew her. To honor and celebrate Beth’s outstanding service to God and His Kingdom, we wish to keep her memory and vision for a clean energy future alive for all. As of Friday, August 7, 2020, The Beth Bond Memorial Book Club will be formed in Beth’s honor.

We hope you’ll join us in prayer for Beth’s mom, dad, sister, brother, nieces, and nephew as they grieve Beth’s loss even more deeply than us. For more information, please see Beth’s obituary
