As evangelical Christians, we commit ourselves to the God of reconciliation who is “setting things right” (Romans 3:22, MSG). Reconciliation requires remembrance, an act Scripture places great importance on.

In this spirit, over 15,390 pro-life Christians (including 10,900 in Oklahoma) have registered their support to designate “Black Wall Street” in the Historic Greenwood District of Tulsa, Oklahoma–and the site of the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre–as a national monument. Establishing the Black Wall Street national monument is an important and necessary step toward our national healing as we bravely move forward together in repentance and collective hope and resilience.

On behalf of our fellow evangelicals, the Evangelical Environmental Network supports The Historic Greenwood District - Black Wall Street National Monument Establishment Act (S. 3543). We are grateful to Senator Lankford for his leadership on this bill and thank co-sponsors Senators Booker, Cornyn, Heinrich, and Hickenlooper.

This Act represents a critical step forward for national healing and reconciliation, and we hope to see it quickly advanced.
