House Agriculture Committee Advances Farm Bill Proposal with Bipartisan Approval

Today, with bipartisan approval the House Agriculture Committee advanced the Farm, Food, and National Security Act of 2024 - its version of the five-year farm bill reauthorization. The Farm Bill is a crucial opportunity to better support our farmers, foresters, and ranchers in their calling to steward God’s creation, to promote food security for our families, national security for our country, and to pass down a strong legacy and bright future to the next generation.

In response, The Rev. Dr. Jessica Moerman, EEN’s President & CEO, released the following statement:

EEN is a ministry centered on bringing people together around our shared call to protect God’s creation and ensure a bright, healthy, and secure future for all God’s children. We applaud the leadership of Chairman Thompson and the dedicated work of House Agriculture Committee members and staff for leading the process to this important point. Our farmers face many uncertainties, from rising input costs to increasingly extreme and unpredictable weather, and are counting on a bipartisan farm bill agreement this year to eliminate another source of uncertainty. On behalf of the 90,000 pro-life Christians who have voiced their support for a conservation-forward Farm Bill, we especially commend the committee’s historic investment in conservation and look forward to continued bipartisan collaboration to further empower our farmers with the dedicated resources needed to steward our land, water, and air, well, build resilience to climate-fueled weather extremes, and gain access to new market opportunities. We encourage our leaders across Congress to continue the important work of coming together to build the common ground coalition needed to finalize a bipartisan Farm Bill this year.
